September Monthly Meeting Recap

Upcoming Planning Committee Meeting

There will be a Beijing Platform for Action Study Group meeting from 12-1PM followed by the Planning Committee meeting from 1-3PM.

Please note that anyone is welcome to attend the Planning Committee meeting, but only NGO CSW/NY members will be officially recognized in our handbook. Additionally, in-person attendance is required for Planning Committee meetings. The Beijing Platform for Action Study Group will be available via Zoom.

UNSC Resolution 1325- Women in the forefront of peace, security and disarmament

The Beijing Platform for Action Study Group will be meeting before the Monthly Meeting from 12 – 1PM. The Monthly Meeting will be held immediately after from 1 – 3PM.

Generation Equality Launch Event

Gender Equality: from the Biarritz Partnership to the Beijing+25 Generation Equality Forum

This side-event, hosted by the French and Mexican Foreign Affairs Ministers and co-sponsored by UN Women, took stock of the gender equality outcomes of the Biarritz summit and the work of the GEAC (of which the Executive Director of UN Women is a member) and officially introduced the Generation Equality Forum to the international community.

UN Women Expert Papers for CSW64

UN Women convened an Expert Group Meeting in New York City on 25-26 September in preparation for the CSW64, which will focus on the review and appraisal of progress made in implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action over the last 25 years.

Survey for U.S. National Parallel Report

NGOs working in the US are invited to participate in a national survey to review the status of women and girls in preparation for the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Fourth World Conference on Women. The survey was prepared by US-based NGOs who volunteered to work on the US National Parallel Report and is not sponsored by NGO CSW/NY. The information from this survey will be part of the US National Parallel report.

The deadline to complete the survey is 22 October 2019.

Women, Peace and Security: Film & Conversation

Join UN Women USA NY* in recognition of the 19th anniversary of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 at the Fashion Institute of Technology’s Great Hall on Friday, October 18th at 6pm for a screening of A Journey of a Thousand Miles: Peacekeepers, which will immediately be followed by an intimate conversation with Ambassdor Bonnie Jenkins and filmmaker, Geeta Gandbhir on the importance of women, peace, and security.
