Preamble

While it is true that education has, from the beginning, aimed to be transformative, institutions of learning have not fully carried this out as traditionalist education limited learning to the four walls of the classroom and to discussion of theories.

Resolutions

  • WCCI as a non-government organization commences collaborative efforts on undertaking plans for sustainable community development as we affirm our commitment to the MDG goal of “reducing poverty and the worst forms of human deprivation”
  • WCCI further recognizes that among the three pillars of education, community extension is the best way to bring forth a truly relevant education that seeks to promote social transformation towards nation building by nurturing a “social conscience” among students and faculty.
  • COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SHOULD BE
  • COMMUNITY-BASED so needs are properly identified
  • COLLABORATIVE with common vision and goals
  • SUSTAINABLE for the community to be self reliant
